These Terms & Conditions are here to make expectations clear for everyone involved, so we can focus on the good stuff: scenic trails, good meals, and being one with nature. By booking a trip with Tales & Trails, you agree to the terms below.
How booking works:
Send me a message noting which trip you’re interested in and if I have a spot, I will reserve it for you. When the minimum group size for the trip has been met, I’ll confirm your spot and send an invoice or payment link.
Deposit:
A 25% deposit is required to reserve your place.
Final payment:
The remaining balance is due no later than 90 days before the trip starts. If the final payment isn’t received by the deadline, your spot may be released (and the cancellation terms below will apply).
Each trip page describes what’s included, what’s not included, and how rooming works. If anything is unclear, just ask!
You must have travel insurance that covers, at minimum:
• Emergency medical care and evacuation/repatriation
• Trip cancellation/interruption
• The activities included in the itinerary (such as hiking and cold-water swimming)
If you choose to travel without adequate coverage, you accept responsibility for any costs that arise.
These trips are not extreme adventures, but they involve long days outside, on uneven ground and in changing weather. We’re often far from the nearest pharmacy and healthcare center.
By joining, you confirm that:
• You’re choosing a trip that fits your fitness level and comfort outdoors
• You’ll tell me (confidentially) about anything I should know to keep you safe (medical conditions, allergies, mobility needs, etc.)
• You’ll bring the required clothing and gear (a list with suggested gear will be provided)
I’ll always aim for “challenge with care,” but you are responsible for your own wellbeing and decisions on the trail.
Northern Sweden doesn’t do guarantees – especially not with weather. For safety and group wellbeing, I may adjust the itinerary, timing, route, or activities due to weather, trail conditions, wildlife/reindeer herding considerations, or other factors. These changes are part of outdoor travel and do not, by themselves, qualify for a refund.
Cancellations must be made in writing (email is perfect).
• 90+ days before the trip: refund of amounts paid minus the deposit
• 60–89 days before the trip: 50% refund
• 0–59 days before the trip: no refund
If I can fill your spot from a waitlist or another booking, I may be able to refund more (minus reasonable costs/fees), but this cannot be promised.
If Tales & Trails cancels the trip, you will receive a refund of the fees you paid for the trip itself. (This does not include flights or other travel arrangements you book independently – please use travel insurance for those.)
If you arrive late, miss part of the itinerary, or leave the trip early for any reason, I’ll do my best to help you rejoin the group when possible, but refunds generally aren’t available for missed activities. Travel insurance is the right tool for travel disruptions.
I want these trips to feel welcoming, grounded, and easy to be in.
That means:
• Treating each other with respect (no harassment, discrimination, or aggressive behavior)
• Following the guide’s safety instructions
• Respecting allemansrätten – showing care for nature, wildlife, and private property
• Showing extra respect in Sámi areas and around reindeer – observe quietly, keep distance, and remember we’re visitors in someone else’s working landscape
If someone’s behavior compromises safety or the group experience, I reserve the right to end their participation. In that situation, refunds are not provided.
I often take photos and short videos during trips, and I may share them on my website or social media. If you prefer not to be photographed or filmed or don’t want to have your image shared, that’s perfectly fine. Just tell me in writing (email or text) at any time, and I’ll respect that. You’re also welcome to remind me in person along the way.
Outdoor activities carry inherent risks, including but not limited to slips, falls, cold exposure, and changing weather. By joining a trip, you acknowledge these risks and agree to participate at your own responsibility. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tales & Trails is not liable for losses, injuries, or damages resulting from risks inherent to outdoor activities or from third-party services not under our direct control.
If something isn’t right during the trip, please tell me as soon as possible so I can try to fix it in real time.
These Terms are governed by Swedish law. If a dispute can’t be resolved informally, it will be handled by the competent courts in Sweden.
